The Chrysochroa fulgidissima is a wood booring insect of the family Buprestidae.

Appearance[]

There is no true colour- the Jewel Beetle has a beautiful iridescent shell. The head is a soft sea blue. Two red stripes slide down the back of this beetle. Japanese art uses these colours for paintings and small shrines.
