Lycanidae is the order of Gossamer winged butterflies, being the second largest family from the order Lepidoptera with upto 6000 described species. These butterflies can be encountered as a fairly common garden visitor. They are known to compromise upto 30% of all the lepidopterans found throughout the globe.
